Hour Twenty-Four:  Got to page 25 of Dixie Riggs by Sarah Gilbert.  Overall I did three complete books and the little bit of this last one.  Surpassing my last read-a-thon by about a book.

Mad Lib Mini Challenge:

Using whatever book you’re currently reading (or several of the ones you’ve read through the loooong night), assemble the following:

1.  A noun from page one of the text you are reading. – Myrtle Beach
2.  An adjective to describe the cover of your book. – Colorful
3.  Your name or the name of a character. – Jade
4.  A verb found on page 23 of your book (or the nearest page with text on it). – Take
5.  A noun from the title or the “About the Author” section of the book. – Dixie Riggs
6.  A verb ending in -ing from approximately page 76 (or the nearest page with text on it). – Shaking
7. and 8.  Two adjectives from the opening paragraph of a chapter or article from anywhere in the text. – Wet and White
9.  Another verb found at the bottom of page 100 (or the nearest page with text on it). – Drooling
10.  The longest time period it has ever taken you to read a book. – Two Weeks?

Now, copy and paste the text below and sub your selected words into their appropriately numbered blanks.  Leave the completed text in the comments section of this post or leave the url to a post at your own blog.  Be sure to let us know which books or texts you pulled your words from.

And remember, humor is always appreciated.

This Myrtle ____(1)_Beach___ is _Colorful___(2)____!  ____(3)_Jade___  has never _taken___(4)____ so much.

The _Dixie ___(5)_Riggs___ I’m currently Shaking____(6)____ is _Wet___(7)____ and _White___(8)____.

When this is over, I will _drool___(9)____ for two____(10)_weeks___.

Hour Twenty-Three: YAY I finally finished The Chamber of Secrets and will be starting Dixie Riggs by Sarah Gilbert.  Just talked to my Mom and she said she should have her last book read by 8.  We’re both on track!

Hour Nineteen:  OMG I can’t believe it’s two in the am!!!  I haven’t updated in a few hours but my progress has been slower cause I’ve been breaking.  I’m only on page 164 of The Chamber of Secrets, but at least hope to finish it before the read-a-thon ends.  My Mom finished her second book and is now in bed.  She said she’d probably be up at four or five to start and finish her last book.  Hope the rest of you are hanging in there and doing well!

Hour Sixteen: Distractions, distractions!  I’ve only made it to page 70 of my latest read.  Time to focus.  Mom’s almost done with her second read.

Hour Fourteen: I finished Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas and am on Page 40 of The Chamber of Secrets. Breaking to watch The Firm. Then I will resume my reading. Hope you’re all having mad fun!

Hour Thirteen: Mid-Challenge Survey:

1) How are you doing? Sleepy? Are your eyes tired?

I’m actually trucking along just fine. Not really sleep but I’m taking a little break.

2) What have you finished reading?

I’ve finished The Woman in Black by Susan Hill and Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas by Louise Rennison.

3) What is your favorite read so far?

My favorite read so far has been Knocked Out by My Nunga-Nungas. It was so quirky and funny, I love the diaries of Georgia Nicholson.

4) What about your favorite snacks?

So far all I’ve had is goldfish and fried ham. They were equally delicious!

5) Have you found any new blogs through the readathon? If so, give them some love!

Yes I’ve found a new blog. When I get back to my PC I’ll post it here.

Hour Eleven: I’m making great progress. I’m nearly done with my second book. I should be done before the hour is up or at the tippy top of the next. And my Mom is done with Freaks by Terri Gerritson. After all the crap she did today she still managed to finish a book. I’m sure she’ll probably be able to complete another one before she packs it in. We’ll see. I’ve been slack n the challenges this time because I’m super focused on my reading, I’ll have to break to eat and try out a challenge soon.

Hour Nine: I finished The Woman in Black and am now on page 13 of Knocked Out by my Nunga-Nungas by Louise Rennison. I would have been further along had it not started raining while i was walking my dog. I hate for my boos to get wet in any capacity. Anyways, still trucking along. Hope you all are making good progress.

Hour Seven: Oh my this book is getting good and kind of creeping me out! I love it! I should finish The Woman in Black within the hour or at the top of the next!

Hour Five: Ughhh! I’ve only made it to page 67 of The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. I’ve been a bit distracted and now I’m off to my great-uncle’s wake. I’ll be back soon to resume reading though.

Mini-Challenge Hour Four: This mini-challenge is hosted by Alexis of Reflections of a Bookaholic.

For this challenge, you must turn to page 32 of the book you are currently reading (or the nearest page with text on it) and find the most entertaining phrase to complete the following sentence:

“I would rather read than ________ any day!”

“I would rather read than get an extreme chill in my joints any day!” There wasn’t much to pick from on my page thirty two, so that’s what I came up with!

Hour Four: I’m just getting up and joining the read-a-thon. I’m beginning The Woman in Black and will report my progress in a couple of hours. I hope all those who have already started are doing well and progressing in your reading. Mom already began Tomorrow’s Dream and has made it to page 37 before she began doing other things preparing for a funeral we have to go to today. She’s already distracted. We’ll see how the rest of the day goes, I’m off to start reading!

  1. Yay, Jade! Hope you can stay motivated. You’re going to have to let us know how you fare with the joint chilling read. : )

  2. Checking in on you two! Looks like you are moving right along. My condolences to you and your family. Always in my prayer. xoxo

  3. Lexi says:

Sorry to hear you have to go to a wake/funeral today. But I hope you are enjoying the Read-a-Thon when you do get a chance to participate! Good luck with your reading!

  4. Alita says:

I’m sorry for your lost. I hope you’re able to get into The Woman in Black when you get back.

  5. I didn’t have much to choose from on my page 32 either. I kind of took a quick nap, and now I’m back 🙂

  6. I can’t wait to read your review on it! Keep it up! *shaking pom poms*

  7. OH poo on the rain! But you know, if it is still raining, I’d bet you’d get some relaxing reading done.

  8. You and your mom are both doing great! I hope that you’re finding reading a solace on a day that includes a wake.

  9. Shaunesay says:

You’re doing fantastic! That’s fun that your mom is reading with you! I keep thinking it would be fun to have an on-site reading buddy for the ‘thon, but not sure if we’d just distract each other! I love the titles on the Louise Rennison books, they are just hysterical!

So glad you could join us today, keep up the reading!

  10. Glad to see you still trucking. I have a strange burst of energy right now. I hope I don’t crash.

  11. Yay for mom!! I know about those distractions. It doesn’t even take much for me.

  12. Good job you two! How about your sis? Is she still working on The Hunger Games or did she change her mind about joining you?

    • Jade Jade says:

LOL, I talked to her a few hours ago and she had just stared and gotten to chapter 3. She said she’d keep reading though and update me. I’ll text her now and see if she’s still awake.

  13. I wasn’t sure if you were still awake but I’m glad to know you are still going. Yay for your mom! Hopefully the nap will refresh her. It’s just me and my mom right now but she’s barely hanging in. I’m not sure which book I’m reading next. Decisions…decisions. It’ll be my last one so it is hard to choose.

  14. I made up my mind and didn’t pick either of the two books I was considering. That’s the late night madness right there.

  15. I’m still up but I’m definitely tired.I wont’ finish my latest read because I just started but oh well. It is what it is. Keep up the reading Jade 🙂

    • Jade Jade says:

Oh I definitely won’t finish my latest read either. But I’ll still try and get a good start on it. I’m tired too and can’t wait until I can go to sleep!
