Throwback Thursday: Salute Your Shorts!

So I as flipping aimlessly through the channels one night when I cam across a repeat of Salute Your Shorts!  Oh how me and my brother loved to watch this show on Nickelodeon.  They really had all the kids shows!  But I got so nostalgic I had to sit there and watch both episodes that played…how could I forget about Ug and Donkeylips?  Funny enough, I still enjoyed them as an adult.  Anyway, this show took me back to the good old easy, carefree days!

This is the best intro video I could find!

Who else grew up watching this show? Isn’t the intro the funniest and silliest? Kids are entertained by such simple crass stuff!

  1. How funny! I’ve never heard of this! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Oh and how old are you?

    PS How you feeling?

  2. I haven’t heard of this show before. I never watched much tv when I was a child, but I do remember that I loved Wishbone.

  3. Hehe, I LOVE seeing what kind of shows you watched as a kid, Jade!! I’m pretty sure I was mostly in love with Barney, Teletubbies, The Big Comfy Couch, and Sailor Moon LOL x) (Other than my uncle terrorizing my with shark movies haha…) That trailer put a smile on my face — it’s so funny to see how each of the kids look so different from each other! Funny and silly shows are my faves — they always make me grin! 😉

Thanks for sharing, Jade! Nickelodeon ROCKS even now, so I bet that show was awesome if it was on there!! <3

I think you probably have a little more in common with my younger sister MiMi as far as shows are concerned. I think you’re a lil closer to her age.

  4. Ha! I used to watch this! It was always on around the same time as Hey, Dude – which was one of my favorites. Now I want to watch them. 🙂

  5. I didn’t really watch salute your shorts. Though I watched EVERYTHING else on Nickelodeon. I loved the programming during this time and still enjoy the shows when they come on late at night.

OMG! This show was my ish! Also along with Hey Dude that Christy mentioned! I swear we had better TV shows when we were younger. All that is on TV now is drivel. I dont even have cable anymore bc there was never anything on and I’d rather just read. Thanks for this throwback. I should check to see if I can find episodes online somewhere.

Thanks for dropping by my blog again! I’m now following you. I got my linky set up. =)

And oh yes you should check out Kresley Cole. She is my favorite. Hella funny with great alpha male types. She has the immortals After Dark series and has her first YA Poison Princess that will be coming out this fall I think.

Hi-five Amanda! Nick had such awesome programming for us kids back then. I agree that television just isn’t the same. People are to reality driven nowadays. I wish they’d get back to sitcoms and good television shows.

  7. Aw, I loved this show! I wouldn’t mind stumbling across a rerun of salute your shorts. I did come across a rerun of Legends Of The Hidden Temple a while back ago and that put me in a nostalgic mood, too.
