Top Ten Tuesday: Characters I’d Like to Check In With
Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 12:00 am |

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new top ten list to be answered. If you’d like to join in go and visit their website! If you’d like to answer and don’t have a blog, please feel free to leave your answers in my comments section! This week’s list is:

Top Ten Characters You’d Like To Check In With:

Eona and Prince Kygo from Eona by Allison Goodman.  Eona was pretty badass and her final showdown was pretty epic.  I loved reading about such a strong and resilient female character from a fantasy novel.  I would love to check in with Eona and Prince Kygo and I’d also like to find out what became of the dragons.

Annalice and Milton from The Road to Paradise Island by Victoria Holt.  These two had such an interesting experience and love journey that I can’t help but wonder whatever became of them.  After Annalice solves the mystery of what happened to her brother, it is Milton that is there to help her pick up the pieces.  I am curious to know how they’re life turned out.  If they reconnected with her family, if they had children, and what became of Milton’s sugar cane farm?  So many things I’d like to know.

Liesal Meminger and Max Vandenburg from The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.  Ugh, this book was perfectly heartbreaking and soul warming.  While the events of Liesal Meminger’s life always seemed to end in tragedy, I adored the relationship she and Max developed and would love nothing more than to know what happened to them.  I like to think that they ended up together eventually, just because their bond was so special, but the author hints that they just remained good friends.  But I’d like to know the specifics of each of their lives and how close or not close they remained over the years.

Haymitch from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  By the end of Mockingjay I was through with Katniss and Peeta and found myself pretty much disappointed in the whole book.  But one character in this series of books I will always have love and concern for is Haymitch.  Yes, Haymitch was a hot ass mess, but I think you might be too after experiencing the things that he did.  I wonder if he ever sobered up or if he eventually ended up passing away in a stupor and alone?  I hope not.  I think Haymitch deserved a whole lot more than what he would allow himself to have.

Abigail and Robert from A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess.  This was such a sweet love story.  I love how the two began as friends and were really the last two to realize how much they loved and adored each other.  I just love their love and I want to know what happened to them.  Did they stay together?  Did they have a family?

Prince Po and Katsa from Graceling by Kristin Cashore.  I LOVED both of these characters so much!  And while I can hardly remember how Graceling ended, I do know that these two characters made quite an impression.  They were the perfect compliment to each other and I liked that they were equally yoked.  They were both badass and fearless and the love they developed was awesome.  I’d like to know whatever became of them.

Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell.  Dude, Rhett was pretty damn awesome and I wonder what ever happened to him after he left Scarlett high and dry for being a wishy washy flake.  Truth be told I’m glad he left her because she was pretty despicable the majority of the book.  And his patience for that woman was phenomenal.  But I was rooting for him when he finally came to his senses.  I would love to know where he went, if he ever married again, if he ever had more children?  I think Rhett deserved to be happy and I really hope he was able to find some happiness after he left that woman.

Pretty much every character from A Song of Ice and Fire Series by George R.R. Martin.  Dude, George just left us floundering after A Dance With Dragons and I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.  I want to know what’s going on with all my favorites.  What schemes are Tyrion putting into place right now?  Is Daenerys ever going to march on Westeros with her dragons?  How will Bran develop his gift and use it in the upcoming war?  WTH is Arya up to and does she ever reunite with Jaqen H’ghar or any of her family?  Does she get her revenge on the list of people she wants to end that are still alive?  And for the love of all that is holy, I must know the fate of one Jon Snow.  I LOVE YOU JON!  There are just so many people in this series I’m rooting for and hope they survive the writing of Mr. Martin.  He’s certainly broken my heart before where characters are concerned.  RIP Robb and Ned!

Harry Potter and Crew from the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling.  I know we get a small glimpse into their futures at the end of Deathly Hallows, but I’d still want to catch up with Harry and the whole Hogwarts crew.  How are the marriages going?  How are the kids?  Does Hagrid still work at Hogwarts, and is Professor McGonagall still teaching?  How is the surviving twin getting along and the rest of the Weaseley family?  There are just so many characters from this series I grew to love and care about and I would seriously love to know how life turned out for them.

Jacob Black and Wolfpack from the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyers.  I really almost hate to list this one because I could care less what happened to whiny ass Bella and her stalker ass husband Eddie, but Jacob will forever be one of my favorite characters and I want to know how he’s doing.  I thought Meyers did a disservice to him by making him imprint with that infant.  I wanted so much better for Jake.  He deserved so much better than anything Bella ever gave him, including that damn baby.  Regardless, I hope he has a very fulfilling and happy life, and I hope he still has close ties with his family and his pack.  Jacob deserved the absolute best and I hope he is living that.

  1. Haymitch!!! Yes. And I put some of the Twilight characters – including the wolves – on my list too. I haven’t read The Book Thief yet, but I just know that when I do, it’ll be one that haunts me forever. And if I had to pick just one series that never ended, I’d pick the Harry Potter series. Hands down. I want prequels about Lily and James and Sirius and Lupin in high school. I want the adventures of Harry the Auror. I want an entire book about the childhood exploits of the Weasley twins before Harry and the gang started at Hogwarts. I want inumerable sequels about their kids growing up. And I want side books about nearly every character – particularly Dumbledore and McGonagall, because they must have had some fun in their days!

  2. Amanda says:

I didn’t even think of Graceling, but YES!!! Also, I have the same feelings on Jacob Black. It didn’t end up on my list, but it was a close one!

  3. I would love to dive into the Harry Potter world again. It would be so interesting to see how the story continues!

  4. Deb Nance at Readerbuzz says:

You and I have one book in common.

    Here’s my Top Ten!

  5. Emma says:

Liesel’s on my list too! I’d love to know in more detail about her life afterwards and her relationship with Max. I loved reading about their friendship, makes my heart go warm 🙂

I’m a new follower too so hiya Jade 🙂 Here’s my TTT @ Emma’s Bookery if you would like to check it out 🙂

  6. How could I forget about Twilight? Renesme and Jacobs life would make for an awesome story, right? Gone with the Wind is one of my favorite stories and I didn’t think about it either, I’ve always wondered what happened to Scarlett and Rhett (in my mind they found each other later). Great list!

    • Jade says:

I kinda hope Jacob dumped Renesme and moved onto something healthier for him. I hated he ended up with a child. While I can see Scarlett and Rhett making their way back to each other, I hope not. Rhett deserved so much better.

  7. christine danielle says:

Jacob is such a hot man great that he’s in your list!

  8. Minnie says:

Victoria Holt! Have you ever read Bride of Pendorric? It’s such a fun read.

    • Jade says:

No I haven’t but I recently bought a whole bunch of her books. I’m not sure if that’s one of the titles I bought, but if not I hope to acquire it eventually. I love her so far.

  9. Liesel and Max are excellent choices. I would love to know if they stayed a part of each other’s lives. Great list.

  10. Nikki says:

Nice list! I wonder about Haymitch, too — I’d even settle for a prequel story about him…

  11. I haven’t read any of these. *handscoverface* But i’m very intrigued by Eona

    Thanks for sharing!

    • Jade says:

There are a number of lists in which I haven’t read anything either! So many books, so little time. I think you’d like Eon and Eona though.

  12. Have you read Bitterblue? You should. You’ll get a small glimpse at Katsa and Prince Po. I loved their moments together in that book. But, I still want more, lol.

And, it’d be interesting to see how Haymitch is faring. I’m a huge Twilight fan, but I’m Team Edward, so I couldn’t care less about Jacob, lol. I just want more vampires! I’d love to know what the Cullens, specifically Alice and Jasper, are up to.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

    • Jade says:

Bitterblue is the only one I haven’t read from that series yet, but I want to. And I’m the complete opposite on twilight. Eddie and Bella can go suck it, give me Jake all day long.

  13. Liesel and Max – that’s a good one! I would love to know the rest of their story!

  14. I’m with you on ASoIaF (and Jon Snow!). Jon had better be okay, or I’m going to have some serious problems with GRRM. Liesel and Max for sure — I’d really like to think that they ended up together also, but I don’t think that’s the way it worked out. I’d love more Rhett Butler too (and I don’t count that awful sequel, Scarlet). Great list!

    • Jade says:

If George takes Jon away then I will be cursing him the rest of my life. He already too Robb and Ned! And I don’t count that sequel either as Margaret Mitchell did not write it. So what Rhett has been up to would be interesting to know.

  15. I agree, Haymitch is an interesting character that we don’t get to find out more about. Realistically, I do think he probably dies drunk and alone…but, who knows. And I also love Katsa and Po, but they’re also in Bitterblue, if you haven’t read it yet and I’m hoping/expecting Cashore will write more about them.

    • Jade says:

Realistically I imagine that is what Haymitch does. And Bitterblue iis the only book in the series I’ve yet to read. I heard there are glimpses of Katsa and Po so I need to pick it up.

  16. Brenda says:

I totally agree with Haymitch, there was so much more that could have been done with his character. I hope that he isn’t drunk and alone. Katsa and Po, well cause I haven’t read the next in the series but should someday.

    • Jade says:

I want so much for Haymitch. By the time it was all said and done, he was the only character from THG I still gave a damn about. And I hear Katsa and Po show up in Butterblue. I need to get that one as well!

  17. Eep, I haven’t finished Eon yet, but I really want to read Eona ASAP. 😉
I would definitely check on Haymitch, too. He was one of the few characters I actually liked in Mockingjay, and he was hardly there.
I haven’t finished the Graceling trilogy yet, so I don’t know where Katsa and Po end yet, so I’m not sure if I’d want to check up on them.
I love Jacob! I would love to check in on him, but hopefully he didn’t end up with Renesmee…

    Aimee @ Deadly Darlings

    • Jade says:

Oooh, Eon and Eona is good! And right! Hyamitch was the only one I still cared about by the end. And I hope Jacob didn’t end up with that infant either. Stephanie could have done so much better for him!

  18. Haymitch! SUCH a great choice. Okay. So, Haymitch eventually sobers up, because he is basically the only one around to look after Katniss and Peeta as they recover. So he finally gets clean, and then… maybe he relapses, and Katniss sends him to a fancy rehab in the old Capitol, where he reconnects with Effie. They split their time between district 12 and the Capitol, and are oddly Katniss and Peeta’s favorite baby-sitters.

    • Jade says:

LOL! That is a great summary of Haymitch’s possible fate. I actually think Effie would be good for him. She might be able to help keep him on the straight and narrow!

  19. Oh yes! The Graceling and Twilight series! I completely forgot about those but they’re definitely worlds with characters I’d like to check in with. With all the characters to be honest!

  20. Lisel is a great choice! I would love to think that her and Max are always within a few feet of each other! I see him more as a big brother or father figure for her than a love interest.
Thanks for stopping by The Local Muse!

    • Jade says:

Yeah I’m still on the fence about how I would like for Liesal and Max’s relationship to develop. But I think I would be happy just knowing they remained close no matter what happened.

  21. Emily Alfano says:

OOO Jacob is a good one! i didn’t even think about that! i would totally love to see more about him! and Graceling is on my TBR! i have heard so many good things about that! great list this week!! btw this is my first time stopping by your blog and i absolutely LOVE it! looking forward to your future posts!

  22. I actually still need to read Eon/Eona and Graceling but it’s good to see them here^^ it reminds me how much I have to look forward to 🙂 I definitely agree with you on Harry Potter and the rest of the crew ♥ And YES, Haymitch is a great pick, I loved him and I wish we knew more about how it all ended up for him. Awesome list and thanks for stopping by yesterday – new follower via Feedly and Networked Blogs 😀

    Micheline @ Lunar Rainbows Reviews

    • Jade says:

Thanks for stopping by Micheline! I do hope you enjoy Eon, Eona, and Graceling. They were all great fantasy novels featuring some tough ass chicks!

  23. What happened to Jon at the end of ADwD is something that I ABSOLUTELY need an update on soon! Actually, let’s just make that a full report on everybody in the Seven Kingdoms, lol, because their story lines are all so intertwined.

    • Jade says:

The end of ADWD was a nail biter. I can only hope that what we think happens doesn’t. I have a sneaking suspicion that Jon is someone other than he seems, and I think that’s all I can say without spoiling it for anyone.

  24. Missie says:

Cannot wait for GOT this weekend! And I really think JK Rowling needs to write some more HP – everyone wants to check up on them!
