Pippi Longstocking!

I remember being introduced to Pippi as a kid.  I borrowed one of the Pippi Longstocking tapes from the video section at my public library and have been hooked ever since.  And while I liked the New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, nobody played Pippi quite like Inger Nilsson.  Pippi, Tommy, and Annika had some of the best adventures together.  Like when they all run away from home together.  Pippi goes down a waterfall in a barrel, has a bullfight, rides a bike with no wheels, and flies a car.  What other child do you know that can do all that?  Pippi was hours of good entertainment and fun for me as a child, and I’ve taken to finding and buying the movies I used to love as a kid.  She has like four different ones.  I can’t wait until my nephew is old enough to watch them.

  1. I never really got into Pippi Longstocking even though both of my parents loved her.

Sad to say, I really liked The Sweet Valley Twins. I cringe now, but gawd I loved those books. They had such pretty covers and were so nice and pastel. 🙂

  2. I love Pippi! I’ve only watched the movie though. Great post. I’m looking forward to participating next week.

@ Jennifer, don’t cringe I loved the Sweey Valley Twins as well. I read SV and SVH. Pippi was great though.

@ Alexis, I only watched the movies too. I may have read one of the books but I don’t recall…I do remember all of the movies though. I’m in the process of collecting them all for myself.

OMG! Talk about bring it back old school. LOL

Remember that Pippi Longstocking song? I used to sing it all the time. LOVED Pippi.

I also posted a comment on your favorite post. I love Harry Potter.
    Have a good weekend.

  7. I haven’t thought about Pippi in years! I loved her so much. My best friend and I used to take turns pretending to be her and trying to escape from the villians! I’ll have to hunt down some of the old Pippi stuff.

    Thanks for the flashback. 😉

@ M. Christine Weber, Pippi was the coolest. I used to pretend to be her too. Me and my cousin would pretend her playhouse was Villa Villa Coola. And you can find old Pippe movies and stuff on Amazon! Probably eBay too but I haven’t checked there yet.
