Top Ten: Best Books I’ve Read in 2012
Monday December 24, 2012 at 1:44 am |

It’s that time again!  The year is winding down and it is now time to post the top ten of many various categories of all the books I read in 2012.  This annual event is hosted by Lisa from A Life Bound By Books, Jessica from Confessions of a Bookaholic, Jaime from Two Chicks on Books, Mindy from Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, and Rachel of Fiktshun.

Today’s Topic: Best Books I’ve Read in 2012 (Doesn’t have to be released in 2012, just a book you’ve read in 2012)

The Bride by Julie Garwood

Absolutely adored this one from start to finish.  Very charming, with endearing characters, and loveable laugh out loud moments.

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Just a beautiful, heart wrenching story about growing up and making some really tough decisions in life.

Where She Went by Gayle Forman

The follow-up to If I Stay.  Just a good, just as powerful.  As a matter of fact, I enjoyed this one even more than the first if that’s possible.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Ughhhh….I can’t even describe the awesomeness of this book.  Great world building, great surprises, great action, and a great dude to top it all off!

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Unfreakingbelievable!!!!  I adored this book from the characters, to the world building.  Even the rather anti-climatic ending couldn’t sway my absolute LOVE for this book.  Katsa and Prince Po rocked my fictional world!

Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry

I didn’t expect to love this book as much as I did.  I didn’t know what to expect considering it’s a zombie book, but it was soooooooooo good.  The coming of age for young Benny Imura, and his understanding that things aren’t always as they seem.  A book about building and exploring relationships.  Nothing short of AWESOME!

A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin

Even though I had seen the season two of GOT on HBO that coincides with this book, they deviated a lot from the book, so reading it was full of surprises for me.  I just fell in love with this series and there are no words really to describe my love for it.

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

This is the first of the Song of Ice and Fire series by Mr. Martin and follows the season one of the series to a T!  But regardless that I had seen the first season already, I could not put this book down!  I don’t know that I’ve ever experience such epic brilliance in fiction before.

Divergent by Veronica Roth

YES, YES, and mo YES!  Divergent was EVERYTHING to me!  I loved this book so hard and it will be forever counted among my favorite dystopians.  The world and the characters were so excellently written that I couldn’t help but be captivated and anxious to get into the next one.  Though I’m still waiting on the paperback so I can keep the series matching!

A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin

Believe me when I say this book is some of the BEST fiction I’ve read EVER IN LIFE!  I swear it’s a total mind fu*k for anyone following and loving this series.  It will pull ALL of the emotions out of you.  Joy, excitement, RAGE, anger, and tears.  I mean this book takes you through a whole host of emotions.  It is an unbelievable roller coaster ride with a twist at every turn.  You will NEVER guess what is going on, but will be too morbidly fascinated to put this down.  Deservedly, the ABSOLUTE BEST BOOK I’VE READ ALL YEAR!  There just are no worlds to accurately describe the awesomosity of this book.

  2. I have some of these on my TBR list. I think my mom read The Bride. It looks like her kinda bok. She loves Julie Garwood books.
