Besides books, I have to say I love to watch me some TV. And now that I have Netflix, it has opened me up to whole new world of shows that I never bothered to watch when they first premiered on network television. And of course since my last post, shows have come and gone or gotten so convoluted I can’t watch them anymore. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t picked up new ones to LOVE. So while Game of Thrones is still on hiatus, I’ve been keeping myself entertained with the following shows!
1. The Wendy Williams Show
What can I say, I love me some hot topics. This is pretty much how I keep on top of the latest celebrity gossip besides facebook because I don’t usually buy magazines or check the gossip blogs. I also enjoy her ask Wendy part of the show. And although I don’t always agree with the advice she gives, the majority of the time I do think she is spot on. I don’t watch many talk shows, but as they go this one has to be my favorite. She keeps it fun and fresh and has some fabulous giveaways.
The Wendy Williams show airs originally at 10:00 AM (check your local listings). But I catch the repeat at 12:00 PM on BET.
If you are not watching Scandal then you need to GET YOUR LIFE! I cannot even begin to describe the brilliance that is this show. Shonda Rhimes sure knows how to keep you on the edge of your seats trying to figure out the storyline or just when the story is going to take a turn you were never expecting or anticipating. And I have so much fun with my friends commenting on the show while it’s on. This show just has so much to love about it and I love that a beautiful, strong black woman is the lead. I’ve been craving more diversity in television for years now and I am happy to see great television shows that are doing this.
Scandal airs Thursdays at 9:00PM on ABC.
3. How To Get Away With Murder
YES, Miss Shonda Rhimes does it again in her new prime time drama How to Get Away With Murder! Mrs. Annalise Keating is a brilliant law professor and hard ass defense attorney that really be pulling some hail mary’s to win her cases. And with the help of her staff and five crafty and intelligent law students, Mrs. Keating is a force to be reckoned with. And Viola Davis is MAGNIFICENT as Annalise and really brings her character to life. She is real, gritty, brilliant, but damaged. Though this show is only in it’s first season, I am all in! I cannot wait to see where it goes. And a cool bonus, the kid who played Dean in the Harry Potter movies has a prominent role as one of her students Mr. Wes Gibbons.
How to Get Away With Murder airs Thursdays at 10:00 PM on ABC.
This is one of those shows that was a season or two in before I decided to try it on Netflix. I watched one show and was instantly HOOKED! So hooked I ended up watching the first season over and over and over again. I probably watched it like seven times because it was so good. And might I add that the title character, played by Stephen Amell, is so freaking HOT! I love the action, I love the back story, and I’m just hoping and praying Oliver and Felicity get it together because I swear they are perfect for each other. I just think they have done a good job bringing the Arrow to life and I am excited to see where his story goes in the future. Home Run with this one!
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8:00 PM on the CW.
This is yet another show I’ve recently picked up from Netflix. And I mean very recently. But I am so caught up and in love with this show that I’ve already made it to season six. And so far Netflix has nine seasons so I’m excited there is still more to watch. I am LIVING for the Dean and Sam Winchester! They can come and rescue my ass ANY DAY! This show is pretty much heart stopping. The ups, the downs, the love and hate. My heart breaks for these boys on a continuous basis because they have to go through so much trying to essentially save the world. They are damaged and broken, literally have been to hell and back, and yet they press on to keep the world safe. I cannot get enough of The Winchester boys, and Dean’s voice is glorious! Not to mention, they can also keep it funny. I’ve never laughed so hard than at some of the episodes in this series!
Supernatural airs Wednesdays at 9:00 PM on the CW.
YES GAWD, this show is the most entertaining new show today. There are just no words for all of the awesomeness all up and through this show right here. Cookie Lyon is my everything and she gives me so much life right now. My girl is street smart, intelligent, and beyond savvy when it comes to producing music that works. Lucious is a selfish, hot mess, and all of their boys are damaged from the fall out of their relationship. But I love that despite all the ratchetness (cause it can get ratchet), this show is exploring and starting discussions in black households about black culture and issues in and amongst the black community. Exploring themes like homophobia and mental illness, Empire is groundbreaking and inspiring. Not to mention the MUSIC coming out of this show. I haven’t genuinely listened to the radio or bought music in YEARS. I think the majority of the songs on the radio now are crap and I miss the music from the 80’s, 90’s, and early 00’s and the oldies I listened to with the rents. This show is single handedly restoring my faith in good music and Jussie Smollett (the kid playing their gay son Jamal Lyon) is a dream! I will buy anything he puts out because his voice is freaking MAGIC! I can’t even tell you how much I am loving this show and again, I get to enjoy it while commenting on it with my friends on facebook. The show, the music, the actors have all come together to create the most talked about phenomenon on television in a long time!
Empire airs Wednesdays at 9:00 PM on FOX.

The Housewives of Atlanta
The Millionaire Matchmaker
