abduction

My Thoughts:

My best friend came to town and we decided to finally go and see Abduction. You guys know I had to right? I mean it’s full of Jacob Black loveliness, so I really had no other choice. And while this is not the most creative or earth-shattering movie, I did love it.

The opening scene was a bold proclamation of the type of person Nathan is. A kid who takes risks and loves to have fun with his friends. He’s also brooding (how do I love the brooders), and working to maintain his rage. As the story unfolds, Nathan begins to find inconsistencies regarding his childhood, and is haunted by dreams he can’t explain.

I have to say I was drawn in from the very beginning and really fell deeper into the story once Nathan realized his parents weren’t telling him the complete truth. What follows is some frenzied running, awesome fights, and a heart warming romance amongst the chaos. Lily Collins was adorable and perfect to play Nathan’s love interest. The action had my pulse pumping and I longed for Nathan to uncover the truth of everything.

Overall the movie was engaging and fast paced. If you enjoy action films with hot male lead, a little mystery, and a cute romance, this is the film for you.

I *think* I enjoyed Abduction. I went to a media screening that was full of old fuddy duddys who openly mocked it and laughed in all the wrong places, which was really annoying. I need to see it again without those distractions!
But I think Taylor and Lily did pretty great jobs in it.

  2. I’ve seen the trailer to this movie but not sure if I would enjoy it. Possibly for the perv quota alone I might go watch it!

  3. O sounds like a must must for me 🙂

I saw the movie when it first came out. It was okay. I was not really impressed. I had several issues with the movie. 1) They are teenagers in the technology age, yet they didn’t know not to use their cell phone to call someone or that the phone call would be traced? He knew this when he tried calling 911 from the hospital, yet didn’t learn once they reached his biological father’s house. They slept in the woods, wet and cold, and decided to sleep ON the blanket and cover up with the sheet. :-/ The girl, who is on running for her life, didn’t feel the need to call her parents, just her uncle. I think for teenagers, this is a great movie because of the action and the romance. For an adult, I think for me, I was thinking way too much about the inconsistencies (because they were many, too many to name) to enjoy it.

But it was nice to see him in a new role as a lead.

Some of those inconsitencies botherd me too. Thats why I said it wasn’t the most creative or earth shattering story. But it was fun to watch JB in a new role.

  5. I had a funny feeling you would end up seeing this movie – for no other reason than the Black-ness of it all – – LOL

    Team Brooders!

    LOL

As big of a fan you are, I’d expect nothing less than for you to take one for the team and watch this for us to let us know all about the good and the bad. Thanks Jade! Glad you enjoyed it.

  7. I would like to check this one out. I hadn’t seen the trailers. I’ll probably wait until I can rent it at home. Glad to read that you enjoyed it.

  8. I wonder if I can talk the Hubby into going to see it with me. It does sound like a guy movie. I really feel like I have to go see it.
