Why I Love Wednesdays is a weekly meme created and hosted by Alexis of Reflections of a Bookaholic. Each week she posts a Why I Love Topic that she answers. If you would like to participate head on over to her site for the topic and the image.

August 8th: Book Recommended by Another

Gotta extend a HUGE, ENORMOUS THANK YOU, to Alexis from Reflections of a Bookaholic for recommending this book.  I just finished it a couple of days ago and could not put it down.  I was enchanted from beginning to end and would have immediately dived into the second book if I’d had it on my shelf.  I LOVED it and count among my faves I read so far this year.  Delirium, Rot & Ruin (rec by M. Christine Weber), and Graceling have all rocked my world!

August 15th: Favorite Book Gifted Books (Given or Received)

Honestly I can’t even remember the last book I’ve been gifted, and all the books I’ve bought as gifts I would probably NEVER read myself.  So for this answer I’ll just have to say….BRING ON THE GIFT CARDS.  My family don’t even bother with buying me specific titles, they just give the gift cards so I can get what I want.  But now that I’m typing, I remember that about a month ago I sent my sister the last two books in The Hunger Games series…so I’ll go with those as favorite that I gave someone.

August 22nd: Favorite Chunksters (Thick Books)

835 and 759 pages respectively!  Game of Thrones and The Deathly Hallows had me riveted from beginning to end.  Despite the size of these books I found myself flying through the pages because they are just THAT GOOD!  Even though I knew what was going to happen in GOT because of watching the series, I was still mesmerized, shouting, giggling, and rooting for my favorite characters.  It also served to put into perspective those things that I didn’t quite catch from watching the series.  And Deathly Hallows is just last book in a series PERFECTION!  Love these thick books.

August 29th: Favorite Book to Recommend to Others

I’ve said it over and over again on this blog.  Only Hers by Francis Ray is my all time fave romance novel and I make a point to read it at least once a year since I discovered it so long ago as a young teen (or tween).

September 5th: Favorite Location/Place to Read

I do most of my reading in my BED orrrrrr, walking my Dog.  I love them both.  I love being curled up in my bed with a good book, and I also love being outside, just me and the dog, as she plays and does her business and I get lost in the real nature around me, and lose myself in whatever my current read it (unless it sucks!).

  1. I’m so glad you enjoyed Delirium!!

I’ve finished season two of the The Game of Thrones and now I want to know what happens next!!! Those are some serious chunksters. Should I start the series? Which is better? The TV series or books?

    • Jade Jade says:

Delirium was Awesome! Me too Alexis! I can’t wait for season 3. And I have to tell you I really loved them both. The series is excellent as a show, and they follow the books very closely. I loved the book just as much as the series…so if you have the time, I say go for it!

  2. I do most of my reading in bed, too. I really like reading outside – under the shade of a tree or on the beach.

BTW, I like what you’ve done with the place. I was out of town for a few weeks so I haven’t had quite as much time as I would like for blogging/commenting. I hope you’re doing well, Jade!

Reading outside is the best when the weather is just right! You made me want to go find a nice big shady tree to curl up under. And thanks! Glad you like my new digs.

  3. Okay, so I’m glad to hear your thoughts on Delirium! I’ve seen it recommended somewhere else but the premise just didn’t quite grab me. But if you couldn’t put it down then it’s definitely my next TBR book. Yay!

And I just read Graceling too. SO well done. :0)

    • Jade Jade says:

Wasn’t Graceling AMAZING! I just picked up Fire and can’t wait to get into it. I’ve been on a roll with the YA books lately. Only one I didn’t really like was Of Poseidon.

  4. Everyone has talked about Delirium and I think I am going to give into the pressure on this one and add it to my TBR list. (make it stop growing) 🙂 I am a bed reader too!!!! And by the way I knew you would pick Harry Potter!

    • Jade Jade says:

You know Harry is a STAPLE! And YES, PLEASE get Delirium…it’s soooo good and I really can’t wait to get into the next book. The ending is like WHAT!?!!!
