Topic: Favorite New Author

I started the Song of Ice and Fire series this year, and by far George R.R. Martin is my favorite new author.  As a matter of fact. I’m seriously eying my copy of A Game of Thrones, wanting to pick it up and start re-reading it now.  For those who only watch the series, I’d recommend picking up and reading the books if you have the time.  They are fantastically, awesomely, EPIC!

  1. I picked up a copy of the first book (you wore me down). Now I just need to finish the books I’ve been reading so I can get to it.

Dude…I got the first book (for free at the Farmer’s Market, booya!) and I’m just so intimdated by it!

I’m happy you like it though!

  3. I totally agree! I just finished reading A Game of Thrones last week and I’ve been desperate to start A Clash of Kings. Amazing author! :]

My fear of chuncy books pervents me from even considering this series. I know it makes no sense but…it took me forever to get through A Discovery of Witches. LOL!

I have copies of Martin’s books on my ereader, but I haven’t attempted to read them yet. I enjoy Game of Thrones, but even all the characters on the television show can be difficult to follow at times. I wondered if the book would be any better.

The book is great because each chapter is from the point of view of one of the characters. So it’s much easier to grasp who everybody is and what’s going on. Go ahead and jump in….you’ll love them. Especially if you enjoy the tv series.
