I Love Wednesdays is a weekly meme created and hosted by Alexis of Reflections of a Bookaholic. Each week she posts a Why I Love Topic that she answers. If you would like to participate head on over to her site for the topic and the image. This week’s topic:

Debut Author :

As I haven’t read any REALLY recent debut authors, I’m going with Veronica Roth of Divergent fame.  How awesome was Divergent?  Very well written, totally captivating, and full of the most intriguing and strong characters.  I am on the edge of my seat waiting for Insurgent to drop so I can revisit with Tris and Four.  I want to know more more more!  So, I pick Veronica Roth and I hope that if you haven’t read Divergent yet, you plan on reading it real soon!

  1. I loved Divergent. I was reluctant to read it because it was compared to The Hunger Games, but it really stood on its own.

  2. I havent. But I need to. I keep hearing great great stuff.

  3. I haven’t read Divergent yet. But I have read all the wonderful reviews. I am adding it to my ever growing TBR list.

  4. When I first started blogging I thought it would be easy to keep track and read a lot of debut authors, but nope, not so much. LOL Now, I can’t remember the last one I read.

I hope you like Insurgent just as much.

Debut authors are hard to keep track of. And I find that I usually read a book once it’s been released for a while UNLESS it’s one of my go to authors.

  5. D i v e r g e n t !!! <3

Oh my gosh, that book had to be one of my favourites of 2011 and I had no idea that it was one of yours too! *high fives* 😀 She was definitely one of the best debut authors out there, and I'm so excited that Insurgent is on its way to the stores! I've also heard that they might be making a movie for it which would be really cool — although I don't know how they can possibly find the perfect Four! I really don't! x)

This is the PERFECT debut answer, Jade! 😉

    • Jade Jade says:

I’m concerned about who they will cast as Four as well MiMi. I have built him up so in my head that I’d hate for them to cast him wrong.

  6. I am almost tempted to read this novel. It received great reviews but i’m just so not into this type of genre, never seem to interest me but it can be the first. I’m almost convinced.

    • Jade Jade says:

If you’re going to try this genre I would start with The Hunger Games. Although Divergent is excellent, THG really made me appreciate and grow a strong fondness for the dystopian genre.

  7. Yay! And gosh, yes, Divergent was a truly great debut. I can’t wait for Insurgent! It’s already pre-ordered. 😉

    • Jade Jade says:

I should pre-order it. But since I have the paperback version of Divergent I’ll probably wait until the paperback of Insurgent comes out to get it.

  8. I thought Divergent was good but it wasn’t a favorite. I also don’t really keep track of which authors are debut authors and which aren’t. It is so much easier to pick an author that I have read recently because it is still on my mind.
