Why I Love Wednesdays is a weekly meme created and hosted by Alexis of Reflections of a Bookaholic. Each week she posts a Why I Love Topic that she answers. If you would like to participate head on over to her site for the topic and the image. This week’s topic:

A Children’s Book:

I loved The Pain and The Great One by Judy Blume. I remember reading this book over and over again because the characters reminded me of me and my older brother. I loved how Blume shows how each child thinks that the other has it better than they do, and are convinced the parents love the other more. But when they finally experience life from the others side, they find that they like things just as they are. Brilliant children’s book that touches on a very real issue and emotions in young children. I have it and can’t wait to read it to my Snooka.

@ Lan, me too. I read almost all of her books. Sheila the Great, Sally J. Freedman, Superfudge, Tales of the Fourth Grade Nothing. All of them were lovely!

    @ JuJu, it’s such a cute story.

Awwww Judy Blume. Can you believe I’ve never read anything by her. I know. I know! *kicks self*

But I was totally addicted to Clifford, The Berenstain Bears, and Amelia Bedelia.

  5. I loved Judy Blume but I don’t think I read this one. I definitely want to read this now. Oh and my brother DID have it better than me 🙂 Love it!

First, yay! You’re back. And secondly, I love Judy Blume. She is a great children’s writer. Don’t much care for her adult fiction though.

  7. I remember Judy Blume but I have to say I never heard of that one! I’ll have to make sure and grab that one for the grand children — when they arrive that is! Oh and yeah — all kids think the other one has it better!

Ah, I just came across Judy Blume a couple of days ago on a friend’s blog. I never knew her in my childhood days, but my friend told me you’re never too old for Judy Blume!! 🙂 So, I’ll read this one now!
