There are so many childhood characters that I loved as a kid. But one such character that stands out for me is Anne of the Anne of Green Gables series. I was first introduced to Anne as a youngster when I watched the Anne of Green Gables movie. I found it fascinating how this girl kept insisting she was Anne with an E. I found it fascinating because my middle name is Anne, and I always insisted people add the E when they missed it. It does give the name a kind of character.
Anyways, a few years later an Aunt of mine bought me the whole series in books. I don’t know why I never considered reading them before, and it still took me some time to pick them up once I had them. But once I did, OMGosh! I fell head over heels in love with the series and couldn’t get enough! I read them back to back with no breaks. I even wrote my essay, that got me considered and accepted into Honor’s English in 9th grade, on Rilla of Ingleside, a book in this series.
I still think about Anne and I still have this series, and I’m sure I’ll be re-reading them in the near future. If you’ve never had the pleasure of reading these books, I suggest you pick them up immediately. I long to have daughter and son so I can share these books with when they are of age.
Who is a childhood character you can’t forget?
