Why I Love Wednesdays: Book Settings

Why I Love Wednesdays is a weekly meme created and hosted by Alexis of Reflections of a Bookaholic. Each week she posts a Why I Love Topic that she answers. If you would like to participate head on over to her site for the topic and the image. This week’s topic:

Book Settings:

Besides Hogwarts (who doesn’t love Hogwarts?),  I think my favorite types of books settings are those tight-knit small town settings.  There is something about a story set in a small town where everybody knows everybody.  Where everyone knows your business before you do, and though you wish they’d butt out, most of them mean well.  Many of these settings create a comfortable and cozy atmosphere that I love and can’t get enough of.  Small town settings have a way of making me feel like I’m part of the fabric of the town.  These settings are usually quirky and dynamically subtle, and I love spending time in these small places with so much love and heart.

  1. Oooh I totally agree.

So why did I forget it was Wednesday until I saw your post. I’m off to create a Why I Love Wednesday post… ooopsseey

  2. I agree, I love small town settings. I also love quirky characters. Great answer!

  3. Yes yes yes! Me too! Small towns are perfect for all kinds of things. Cozy mysteries (where it could be anyone), romances, etc. etc.

I’m from a really small town, so for my book setting I usually like to get away, but you are on to something here, small towns do have a lot of heart! 🙂

I have to agree with you on that one! I love those kinds of books as well. I can’t say it’s too often I come across them though, but I always love those I do. And the description of why is spot on! (And of course we all love Hogwarts. 😉 LOL)

I agree, Harry Potter has one the best if not the best setting in a book. I always thought that would be a great place to be for a visit, especially as a teenager.
