Why I Love Wednesdays is a weekly meme created and hosted by Alexis of Reflections of a Bookaholic. Each week she posts a Why I Love Topic that she answers. If you would like to participate head on over to her site for the topic and the image. This week’s topic:

Book Blogging:

I don’t know that I can say enough about book blogging so to help better organize my thoughts I’ll list and elaborate. I love book blogging because:

1. I get to share my thoughts about books with others – I love being able to discuss book with like minded people. I don’t have many real life friends that actually take time to pick up a book and read, so there aren’t many people in my offline life that I can have a good book discussion with. Book blogging allows me to get all of that out, and share with others who are interested.

2. Fellow Book Bloggers – So far the book blogging community has been one of the most welcoming and supportive I’ve had the pleasure of joining. And I love visiting everyone’s blogs, reading their opinions, and seeing everybody’s growth. Everyone is so nice and cool, and the best part is we all have such a great thing in common. Love of books.

3. Developing relationships with authors and publishers – How cool is it that author’s and publishers find your blog and take the time to request a review. While I’ve only received a few requests, I’m humbled and grateful for them. It makes me think that the time I dedicate to my blog is paying off. It is a privilege to have an author or publisher interested in your reviews and speaks to all the hard work book bloggers put into their sites. It’s also nice when they are willing to interview and give away one of their works. I think that makes it even more fun for book bloggers and readers. It’s cool to have the author actually engaged with their audience via your blog.

4. The Goodies – I’d be remiss if I didn’t admit it’s fun to win some free goodies here and there. Reading books can be an expensive hobby. Especially if you’re like me and you prefer new books. Although I’m not opposed to used books, there is something about a shiny, brand new book that hasn’t been cracked open yet. So winning a book you’ve been wanting here and there is a great little perk about book blogging.

I agree with all your points Jade. I love meeting new bloggers, we get to share our thoughts on books and how they affect us. And even more, the strangeness when you come across a blogger that has reviewed the same book and come to a different conclusion, I love that. We all visit new places, but how often is it that we come back with the same experience and perspective; rarely. So I think that’s neat and interesting. I love giveaways, I rarely win, but I like entering just the same, I really enjoy offering giveaways, I feel like I’m helping others discover books they may have never read before on their own or never seen. And I love reading reviews, they do help when you’re on the fence as to whether you will invest your time and money into reading it.

  6. Yes!! Oh and I think it is great you met up with Bookbelle. Thanks again for participating 🙂

  7. What a perfect summary! I could not agree more 🙂

Yes, Jade! My sentiments exactly, especially your number one. My family actually gets a bit frustrated with my reading habit because I read more than talk to them. LOL

Luckily, my sister has been reading more, so I’ve been able to chat with her about books once in a while.
