The Fairy Rebel by Lynne Reid Banks!
The Fairy Queen strictly forbids fairies from using their magic power on humans. But after Tiki accidentally meets Jan, a woman who is desperate for a baby daughter, she finds it impossible to resist fulfilling her wish. Now up against the dark and vicious power of evil, this fairy rebel must face the Queen’s fury with frightening and possibly fatal results.
While I cannot hope to remember the complete details of this book unless I read it again, I do remember having a particular strong fondness for it when I was a kid. So much so that I read it over and over again.
This is the very first story about fairies that I can remember reading on my own and I absolutely LOVED it. I’ve been looking for it at the used book stores, just to have it in my collection again. It was such a sweet and entertaining story.
