Throwback Thursday: Pen Pals

Pen Pals by Sharon Denis Wyeth

Four 13-year-old girls who share a suite in a private girls’ school are the center of this new series. In the first book, the girls devise a plan to set up a pen-pal exchange with the neighboring boys’ school. After several letters back and forth, a school dance is organized so that the pen pals can finally meet. In Too Cute for Words, Palmer is more attracted to Amy’s pen pal than her own, and she tries to take him away.

Another middle series I loved.  I saw the cover and immediately remembered how much I used to read this series.  I collected them like Sweet Valley and The Baby Sitters Club.  For the life of me I can’t remember any individual stories, but it’s always fun to reminisce on the stories that and series that kept my attention as kid.

Anybody else read this series at all?  Do you even remember it?

  1. I use to love the Sweet Valley books. I don’t think I read a lot of series in elementary school.

This is one I never heard of when I was younger. I did read BSC and SVT and SVH, and there was also a series called Girl Talk. Oh, the wonderful days of girl series. 😀

  6. Awww, a story about four 13-year-old girls who share a suite in a private girls’ school? That sounds like so much fun!! (And it kind of makes me wish I’d been one of those thirteen-year-old girls LOL — it would be exciting, that’s for sure! ;)) But I HAVE heard of the Baby Sitters Club and Sweet Valley before!

Awesome post, Jade! I love looking back on the books I used to read too! <3 I think when I was in elementary school, I read lots of Jean Little and Robert Munch and that series with the mouse named Geronimo Stilton… LOL! x) <3 In grade seven is when I finally fell in love with Twilight and YA!

  7. Lol, when I saw the title I came to think of the real pen pals I used to have when I was younger! I kinda miss that; I always loved getting those letters in the mailbox! Now it’s more chatting than even e-mailing too, lol.

As for the book, it’s yet another one I’m unfamiliar with (not that I’m too surprised lol), but I did collect Sweet Valley. 😉 Lol.

  8. This is one that I haven’t heard of. I wonder if people these days even understand the concept of Pen Pals. Lol. I guess you can have pen pals through email right?
