Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee. If you’d like to join in the fun go visit her blog!
I was over at Alexis’ blog and read her Follow Friday post and decided I liked the topic and wanted to participate.
Q. Keeping with the dystopian and apocalypse theme that seems to be running rampant on parajunkee.com, I have one very hard question for you: If you were stocking your bomb shelter, what books would you HAVE to include if you only had space for ten?
My Ten Bomb Shelter Books (in no particular order):
Only Hers – by Francis Ray: The sweetest romance novel I’ve ever read. I have to read this at least once a year, so its a must for the list.
Twilight: Eclipse – by Stephenie Meyers: Of the series, besides Jacob’s part in Breaking Dawn, Eclipse was my favorite book. SO much Jacob and Wolf pack, I LOVED IT! I also liked that we got to delve into everybodies history, and learn the histories and legends of the Quilutes. One thing Stephenie is a master at is creating atmosphere, because I wanted to be in La Push running the wood with the Wolf Pack, or walking with a Quilute cutie on the beach.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – by J.K. Rowling: There are no words to describe how much I love this series, and its hard just picking a couple for my list. What I loved about this book was that cute little elf Dobby! He’s such a sweetheart. And Harry, his friends, and Hogwarts are just irresistable.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – J.K. Rowling: I hated to see the Harry series end…but Harry, Ron, and Hermoine went out with a bang. Such a clever and lovely ending to probably the most charming and engaging series I’ve ever read. Can’t say enough good things about Harry Potter.
The Duchess – by Jude Deveraux: There is just something great about this story that makes me continue to think of it and come back to it again and again.
Any R.L. Stine Fear Street Book: Just for old time’s sake. I used to LOVE the Fear Street books and read them one after the other. Couldn’t get enough.
Anne of Green Gables – by L.M. Montgomery: When looking at this book I never thought I’d like it, but ended up LOVING it and the rest in the series. I fought reading this for so long and finally gave in when my Aunt bought me the whole series when I was in about the 7th or 8th grade. Now it’s among my favorites.
Something Like Love – by Beverly Jenkins: I have to have a Black historical in there, and nobody does it better than Beverly Jenkins. It’s really hard to choose from her many worthy titles, so I just picked the first Historical I read by her.
Starring Sally J. Freedman as Herself – by Judy Blume: I can’t tell you how many times I read this as a child. There was something great about this little girl, but she was also relatable. I saw pieces of myelf in her as a kid and her story will always have a place in my heart.
Dixie Riggs – by Sarah Gilbert: I’d pick this book because its a fun and light read, but a story I don’t mind reading over and over.
