I failed miserably at my challenges this year so I’m hoping to go into 2013 with renewed vigor, and hopefully I’ll be able to complete all the challenges I’ve signed up for this year. And without further ado, the following are the challenges I will be participating in come the new year:
1. 100 Books in a Year hosted by Book Chick City
I challenged myself to read 100 books this past year and didn’t make it. My health kind of hindered this goal. So I’m going to try again in the new year. If I don’t make it this time, I’ll think about setting a less ambitious goal. But for now I’m pretty determined to meet and/or exceed this goal. Keep me focused y’all. 2. Book to Movie hosted by Doing Dewey Decimal
For this challenge I will be attempting the second level which is: Movie Devotee – read 6 books and watch their movies. I may possibly end up in the third or fourth level, but for now I’ll stick with a modest goal. For more information on this challenge or to join, click the picture.
3. Cruisin’ thru the Cozies Reading Challenge hosted by Socrates Book Reviews
I LOVE cozy mysteries and decided to participate in the cozy mystery challenge this year. I’ll be participating at the Investigator level which is level two and requires me to read 7-12 cozy mystery books. I have cozy series I need to catch up on so I’m hoping this challenge will definitely be completed before the close of the new year. For more information or to join, click the picture.
4. Dystopia Reading Challenge hosted by Blog of Erised
There is no new to me genre that I’m loving more than dystopia. So I decided to take a page from Alexis’ book and join a dystopia challenge. Again I’ll be participating at a level two, which means: I’m going to be a Rebel (7 to 12 books). I’m really looking forward to this challenge, and already have a book in mind to be the first on the road to completion. And I have some dystopian series I’ve started and need to complete the next book in the series. They should be dropping in paperback in the new year. 5. Genre Variety Reading Challenge hosted by A Daydreamer’s Thoughts
I think I’m actually pretty good about reading all different kinds of books, but I’d like to challenge myself even more in this area. There are genres I’m hesitant to branch out in, and genres I long tired of reading years ago. So maybe this challenge will help me discover some new ones, and rediscover ones I used to love. I will be participating at a level three, which entails: Branching; 18 different genres, 18 books. Woo, we’ll see if I’m able to complete this one.
6. Seriously Series Reading Challenge hosted by Reading the Paranormal and On a Book Bender
There are so many series that I’ve started and need to either finish or catch up on that my head swims just thinking about it. I will not list all of the series I want to get to in this post, but will just keep up with them along the way. I’ll be giving this a go at a level two which is: Seriously Serious is reading 7 to 12 series. I have a strong feeling I may get to well over 12 series, but for now I’d like to be cautious with this challenge. Can’t wait to catch up with some of the characters I fell in love with in previous years. For more information or to join, please click the picture.
Edit**: I’m adding another challenge!
7. Chunkster Reading Challenge hosted by Chunkster Challenge
As I plan on re-reading The Song of Ice and Fire series and finally getting to A Feast for Crows, I think this is a good challenge to join. I also want to go ahead and finally read Gone With the Wind. I’m actually really excited for this one here and can’t wait to restart A Game of Thrones! I’ll be participating at level two the: The Plump Primer – this option is for the slightly heavier reader who wants to commit to SIX Chunksters over the next twelve months. So there you go! All of my challenges for the new year. If you want to join or want more information, click the picture.
