Creative Bookish Gifts
Tuesday January 10, 2012 at 12:00 am |

So I got the idea from fellow Book Blogger, Lena, to try my hand at making a couple of bookish gifts this year.  So I got the materials I needed and made two different bookish type gifts for my Mom for Christmas and I wanted to share.

The first gift I made was a personalized book thong.  I actually made one for her and one for myself.  The blue one I made for my Mom and the purple one is mine.  I did end up putting pics of my nephew in them instead of the manufacturer’s photo pictured below.  I wish I had taken a pic of the complete finished product, but you get this gist.

The second gift I made was way more time consuming and definitley more intricate.  But after my first trial attempt I got the hang of it and made two nice versions of the project.  Too get an idea of the project you can click here.  It’s a vintage book travel-tech organizer.  I love this thing cause now I can organize all my cables and cords to my various technologies, and my mom loved it.  See the finished product below.

I can’t find mine at the moment or I would have posted a pic of that one too.  Anyway, I just thought these book ideas were cool and wanted to share how they turned out with you all.  Did any of you guys receive, make, or give creative or handmade bookish gifts this past year?

No I didn’t make the cover. The cover is an old book I cut the insides out of. I made the techy stuff that is now on the inside if the book.

  2. Oh, both projects turned out very nice! Great ideas.

I’m sure you can do it Bex. The book thongs were actually kind of easy once you get the first steps down. I think the video I follwed was from auntiesbeads.com
