Massive Book Haul
Sunday May 10, 2015 at 7:40 pm |

So there is this GREAT used bookstore a couple of towns over that has a .25 cent book sale the third weekend in every month.  Of course if there are ‘old timey’ authors I am looking for, this is usually the place to go where I can rack up.

Recently I’ve gotten into Gothic Romance and the Queen of GC is Victoria Holt, also known as Jean Plaidy, and Phillipa Carr, and a myriad of other pseudonyms.  I’ve also decided to work my way through Agatha Christie’s books and have also wanted to read through Grace Livingston Hill’s books since I tried one of her’s a few months ago.

From the last two or three visits to the bookstore I was able to buy and collect a good many of those authors plus a few more I found interesting or have been wanting to read.  The following are all the books I’ve picked up from the book sales.

Now I must try and figure out WHERE exactly I’m going to store all of these books!  I most certainly have to get them up out of bags out of my floor!

You can’t go wrong with Agatha! I’ve not read many of her books, but my library has them all. I intend to check some out when I have the time. Ahh, one of my favorite Classics, Pride and Prejudice. I have 3 battered copies on my shelf that have been read too many times. I hope you enjoy reading these and, hopefully, find somewhere to put them all.

I just finished Pride and Prejudice not too long ago. And though I really did enjoy the story, I think after all these years I didn’t get swept up in the hype of it.

  2. AWESOME book haul! Your Agatha Christie collection is especially impressive! Happy reading! 🙂

  3. Oh, I’m Envious!

And we have similar book tastes!

I love Agatha Christie – mine are usually falling apart though.

I LOVE Gothics, my used bookstore has some too but not that cheap. So glad you got such an exciting book haul – there’s not much that makes me happier.

AND I see Barbara Michaels in there =) Re-reading most of her stuff this year.

Yes that bookstore is awesome. I can’t believe some of the things I find in there. You have to really look as nothing is in too much order, but if you have the patience you can find a lot of good books.
