Earlier this year Nomes of Inkcrush hosted a mid-year book awards, and now she’s back with to complete the awards for the end of the year. The awards will run this whole week for several different categories pertaining to books you’ve read this year. Time for day two: The Characters!
1. favourite female main character:
Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games and Dr. Vivian Lancaster (Vivid) of Vivid are my fave female main characters of the year. I loved kick ass Katniss of THG and CF. I have to say I didn’t much care for the Katniss of Mockingjay, but she impressed me so much in the first two books I can’t really hold it against her. And Dr. Vivian Lancaster, a black, female physician of the late 1800′s. How groundbreaking is that! Quite admirable and a great feat for a black woman of those times.
2. favourite male main character:
Mr. Harry Potter of Four Privet Dr. Honestly he just a good, amazing, and brave kid. I loved him faults and all, and would feel honored to have a friend like him.
3. best couple <3:
I loved Abigail and Robert from A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess and Lucy and Sean from the Valentine Series by Heather Webber. Robert and Abby were just too cute. Especially since they were the last to know they were meant for each other. And Lucy and Sean’s relationship is so delicate and fragile you can’t help but root for them and hope they eventually make it forever.
4. who i so want to be best friends with:
Still want to roll with Harry, Ron, and Hermoine from HP. And of course all the other great and wonderful characters like the Weaseley twins, Hagrid, and that adorable little Dobby.
5. who i fell completely in love with (new literary crush):
Ooooh a few for this one. I really swooned for Dragos from Dragon Bound. He was just so very male and I LOVED that. I also liked Peeta Mellark from THG and there is something about Joe Morelli from the Stephanie Plum series that I really dig.
6. worst (best & baddest) villain:
President Snow and Coin of THG. There was something very quietly sinister about Snow and I knew Coin was very much like him. She just wasn’t very subtle about her agenda. I also loved Voldemort and Snape as villains. Snape was probably my favorite of the lot…he had such layers and depth.
7. best character twist (who you loved then hated or vice versa):
I won’t say that I loved then hated, I Still don’t like him, but I loved the twist and back story surrounding Professor Snape. He was still an ass to Harry though and an all around unlikable person. Brilliantly crafted character by Rowling though.
8. best kick-arse female:
This one is easy…Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games Fame. Homegirl could work a bow.
9. best kick-arse male:
Dragos from Dragon Bound was such a powerful and formidable opponent. His presence was larger than life and I would have hated to have to go up against him. Of course Harry who kicks major dark wizard ass and saves the wizarding world from he who must not be named. And I like Mike Newland of Scarlet Nights cause he had a body to die for and was protective.
I liked Angus from Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging. I’m generally NOT a cat person, but Angus was just too funny with all his crazy antics. I also like Oscar from Seconhand-Spirits and A Cast-Off Coven by Juliet Blackwell. The familiar that morphs into a small pot-bellied pig is just too cute. And I’m not sure if he’d be considered a pet, but Dobby was the best.
This whole family grabbed my heart and never let go. Ron is always supportive and amusing. Ginny is brilliant and determined. I like that she doesn’t let her brothers overshadow her. The twins are my fave though. They had me laughing so many times during the books and The Deathly Hallows broke my heart. I also love the parents Molly and Arthur. I admire that they really took Harry in and treated him as if he were one of their own. With him losing so many people he loved, they were the one thing that was consistent and right in his life…and Molly was a pistol! Even Percy served his purpose. I wish we got to know more about the older brothers though.Having read Harry Potter this year, a lot of these answers are easy. The magical three win the friendship award.
4. Dragos from Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison

Yes HP has worked his way into my heart.
I would agree with your list. I definitely fell in love with Dobby, the little pet, monster, goblin or whatever he is. He was adorable and selfless. I think Katniss is a great female main character. I like her spirit and tenacity. As far as worst character names, Jade, you have got to Google the names for Modelland by Tyra Banks. You will shake your head.

I’m not a cat person either, but Angus seems irresistible. LOL
And I can’t wait to get to know your favorite couples for myself. Both couples sound too cute.

Love this list. I especially love that most of the answers were won by Harry Potter characters.
