Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon!
Tuesday April 10, 2012 at 12:00 am |

It’s that time again and I’m gearing up to participate in the bi-annual Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-Thon!  I had such a blast last time that I honestly can’t wait.  I think I may have even convinced my Mom in participating with me this year.  That will make things even more fun. I am currently preparing my books and thinking over the snacks I’d like to have on hand.  So far I have two books picked out and will soon be deciding on a few more.  I’ll post all of my participant information closer to the start date.

For those interested in participating this time, please check out the information below.  And also be sure to check out Alexis’ great tips for the read-a-thon!  As someone with more experience than me with the read-a-thon, her tips came in handy the last time I participated.  I HOPE that some of you will be joining in the fun this go round.  It really is great fun and promotes such camaraderie among the blogosphere!  For pertinent information on the Read-a-Thon, see the info below!

Information from Dewey’s Read-a-Thon Site:

What is Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon?

For 24 hours, we read books, post to our blogs about our reading, and visit other readers’ blogs. We also participate in mini-challenges throughout the day. It happens twice a year, in April and in October.

What is the date of the next Read-a-thon?

October 22, 2011, starting at Noon GMT.

Here is a handy, simple-to-read time zone list.

You can expect a Read-a-thon every April and October.

Where can I sign up?

You can sign up to be a Reader in the read-a-thon here and can sign up to be a volunteer here.

Once I sign up, what do I do next?

Keep your eye on this blog. In the days leading up to the Read-a-thon, we’ll probably post updates, last minute info, etc. The day of the read-a-thon, there will be a home base post. This is where you’ll find out about mini-challenges, prize winners, etc.

  1. I love Dewey’s, it was one of the first read-a-thons I ever did. I wish I had time to do this year.

Good luck. Hope you have fun.

  2. Ahh thanks for the shout out Jade! You are so sweet. I’ve started to compile the books I want to read but I’m really stuck. I don’t know if I want to do do stand alones or series. But the series I’m thinking about are like book 2 and there isn’t a book 3 sooo… hmm. I really want a list that makes me excited to finish each book you know. Plus I look at it as a time where I can read guilt-free. I deliberate on these decisions like it is the most serious thing. Lol.

I hope your mom participates. I’m going to take pictures of me and my mom read-a-thon-ing it out and now my grandmothers on board. Ahhh!! I can’t wait!

  3. Ooohhhhhhh, read-a-thon! That sounds like so much fun, Jade! I don’t think I’ve never participated in one before, but everyone always seems to have a blast while doing them so I’m going to have to soon! 😉 And a 24-hour one? I’m so excited to see how that one goes! If it’s in October, maybe I’ll be less swamped with homework then!

Thanks so much for sharing, Jade! I hope you have a ton of fun! <3

  4. Wow, Jade it’s so great that your mom is participating with you !

I’ve never heard of this read-a-thon but it sounds amazing, I have so many books to read, I may have to join you in this one.

  5. Good luck on your read a thon, you know I don’t well on read a-thons, but I admire the ones that do. It’s great Alexis has tips to help as well. That should come in very handy. Hope you have a great spring break. Look forward to reading about your progress.

I’ll be on hiatus for a couple of weeks, but in my Arnold Schwarzenegger voice, “I’ll be back.” 🙂

Woahh! Reading for 24 hours? That sounds like it would be fun but I don’t think I could sit still long enough to participate, let alone stay up 24 hours (i’m like an old lady in that aspect) Sounds like it would be great though! I will keep an eye on your blog and follow this anyway!

  7. I am so excited about my second Read A Thon!! Whoot! Whoot! I am posting my read a thon plan next week. I am still trying to get the list together and get a few things done. Like cancel plans. 🙂 Great post!!!

  8. It’s that time already? I must admit that I’ve never participated, but I usually find myself following the occasional updates of some of the participants. I can’t wait to see what you’ll be reading.
